GENERAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Child Development Associative (CDA); Associates or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in an early childhood education classroom, certified child care center or comparable group care program. Thorough understanding of early childhood growth and development and appropriate programming for preschool-age children. Eligible for enrollment in the Child Care Division’s Criminal History Registry prior to starting work. Current first aid and infant/child CPR certification. Food Handler’s card or willingness to obtain such within 15 days. Completion of neglect and abuse reporting course within 15 days.

Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets. This position is considered a safety sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Necessarily Limited To)

1. Assist the teacher with the daily operation of the program.
2. Assist the teacher with assessments and individualization’s as needed.
3. Ensure the care, safety, and well-being of all children in the center.
4. Supervise the activities of students.
5. Assist in implementation of the daily lesson plan within the classroom
6. Ensure the appropriateness of program activities according to the age, interests, and developmental level of the children.

1. Know and maintain CCD rules and all other regulations applicable to the operation of child development centers.
2. Ensure that the cleanliness of the center is maintained daily.
3. Maintain constant interaction between students, staff, parents, and children.
4. In consultation with team members participate in Open House during startup of each year.
5. Attend and provide childcare at monthly parent meetings as needed.
6. Use a positive approach in directing and redirecting child behavior and work cooperatively as a team.

7. Arrive to work on time; punctually attend and actively participate in all required meetings and trainings.

8. Complete daily record keeping of attendance and daily activities.
9. Participate each year in at least 15 hours of training related to child care.
10. Other duties as assigned by program coordinator.
11. Work closely with the student parents and aides to increase parenting skills, self-confidence, and knowledge of early childhood development. Involve student parents not working as aides as much as possible in center operation.

12. Perform developmental screenings as requested.
13. Participate in staff meeting discussions.
