Mechanics must be able to perform skilled vehicle and other equipment maintenance work for safe and reliable transportation of students and district staff by:

  1. Perform major and minor journey-level maintenance and repair work on vehicles and other equipment.
  2. Locate, diagnose and repair defects in vehicles and other equipment.
  3. Perform gas and electric welding work.
  4. Follow oral and written directions and communicate in English.
  5. Read and apply technical and mechanical diagrams, schematics and repair manuals.
  6. Pass required physical examinations necessary for bus driver certification.
  7. Conform to safety standards as prescribed
  8. Stay current on new technologies, products and procedures
  9. Provide own set of hand tools.
  10. Responsibilities include student safety and security.

This is considered a safety sensitive position.
